Thought
for the Day : Proverbs 10:9
v.9
The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths
will be found out.
The rule of
life we follow. There are those who walk in integrity - honesty, openness,
goodness - and they have nothing to fear. The one who maintains integrity
knows he has nothing to fear, he can be trusted. This man will not be
constantly looking over his shoulder to see if there is someone coming
after him because of his crooked dealings. No, this man can be confident
and at peace because of the goodness of his dealings, which will also
prosper him. He walks well with God and with men, secure in the life that
God gives him, holding fast to this honourable uprightness, this integrity.
There are others
who walk on a crooked path - deceitful, untruthful, conniving. They constantly
fear being found out for what they are. Eventually what they are will
be revealed, they fool themselves if they think it will be otherwise.
This isn't just about work, this is about all of life. The one who walks
crookedly but pretends otherwise WILL be found out.
How therefore
will we walk today through life? Will integrity cover everything we do?
Will others who encounter us know we can be trusted utterly? Does that
come over in every word we utter? Or is our life a pretence? Is there
a crookedness about our thinking that we seek to cover up by social graces?
If this latter applies, we must change soon, else we be revealed for what
we are. May that not be the case.
