Thought
for the Day : Proverbs 10:30
v.30
The
righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the
land.
Stability
and permanence. Because the believer is walking in the way of the Lord
and that is a place of complete security and refuge, it also means they
can be sure of not being uprooted and cast down. They can be secure in
His love. What does uprooted mean? If you uproot a plant, it is cut off
from it's proper environment and from its natural resources, and dies.
The righteous (and we need to remind ourselves again and again that the
Bible declares the Christian to be righteous ‘in Christ') believer therefore
has the promise that they will never be separated from the love of God
(see Rom 8:35 -39) and from the supply of life that He gives. Whatever
happens in our lives, therefore, if we are believers then we have this
promise: His love and His source of supply will never be removed from
us.
As we've
noted in previous verses, however, the wicked are opposed to God and by
God and therefore they will not remain, they will be uprooted and cast
away, or as Solomon describes it, they will not remain in the land. The
land, for the Israelite, was all important, for it was the place of communion
with God and the place of supply from God and also a place of security
in God. The wicked, those who go their own way in opposition to God, may
for a while appear to flourish, but that will not continue. The Lord may
give them time and space in which to repent, but if they do not, at the
pint He decides, all of that will be removed – they will be put out of
the place of goodness and security.
Accepting
each of these things is very much a matter of faith and if we struggle
with them it's simply a sign of the days in which we live. Read through
the thoughts above again, but know that God's word IS true, so live accordingly.
