Thought for the Day : Proverbs 10:22

v.22   The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.

Blessing and prosperity. When God blesses a person, He blesses them in material, practical ways. Many Christians fear the physical and material and have taken on board Greek thinking that divided spirit from body and saw body as evil. Not so in the Bible (read the Song of Solomon!). God has made us with bodies and has given us an amazing material world to enjoy. God isn't a kill-joy, He doesn't give blessing and bad things - just good. Sin and Satan bring bad, but not God.

When things go wrong, people often blame God. “Why did He do that?” Solomon knows the truth: “he adds no trouble”. If we are living our lives as committed Christians, as God's people, people in relationship with Him, we don't have to fear; He's not going to drop nasty things on us. We may bring such things by our own folly, or others may bring it through their sin, but God won't! When the Bible says, “God is love” 1 John 4:18 ,16) that rules out disasters coming from the hand of God on those who love Him. When God blesses, He doesn't also bring bad things. Yes, the Bible tells us that God does bring judgement on the world, but that is the curse that comes on sin. Blessing is His inheritance for believers, and there is no bad in that.

Will I rest in God's love today, knowing that as His child, all He is going to bring me is good? Can I receive His grace today to cope with the bad that others would try to bring upon me?
