| Our
Sunday Services. We plan for our services to be a combination of relaxed informality and meaningful worship and teaching. a) Standard Sunday Mornings
These are our usual morning Services but if you are not used to a free style of Service, the following may explain more fully:
Before & After the Meeting
Tea and Coffee are served (free) before and after the main meeting which starts about 10.30am.
The Worship
Our worship, which usually lasts about three quarters of an hour, comprises music, singing, prayer and prophecy (directive revelation from God) and, sometimes, drama. The congregation are free to stand or sit throughout this time.
During this part of the meeting, we sometimes make opportunity for people to receive personal prayer if they wish, at the back of the room.
The Teaching
After the worship time the adult congregation listens to about a half hour teaching or preaching time. The meeting then concludes, usually somewhere about Noon.
Our Children and Youth
Running parallel with the main meeting we have an all-age children's and youth activity called Fractals, in the Carriage Room of the Freight House.
.....And Even More Explanation
We are aware that many people in our society today have never been to "church" and therefore the thought of walking into this completely unknown experience may be very daunting. To this end we have a Welcome Team on the door when you come in, who can answer any questions you may have about where to sit, what will happen and so on. Indeed, if you wish, we can provide you with someone to sit with you throughout the meeting to answer any queries you may have. b)
Sunday Family Experience Mornings Since May 2005 we have been experimenting with the provision of an alternative, parallel series of activities, running at the same time as the 'standard church services' we've described above, for those who are wondering about church and wondering about Christianity. These run from time to time, and the whole morning activities and service starts at 10.30am and runs through to after midday. Our goals, for the service and these parallel activities, are as follows:
So what does ..... mean? But it may be that you have no understanding at all of Christian practices, so you may even be wondering about some of the language above, so if that is you, the following is further explanation to help you anticipate what you may find: Worship: Giving thanks
to God for who He is and what He's done for us, and acknowledging His greatness, usually in song or in prayer, led by a worship leader and music group Prayer:
Speaking to God, giving thanks or making requests of Him. Prophecy: God speaking to us, through what we refer to as a 'gift' that God gives to be able to speak out His will by faith. Preaching: Declaring the truths of the Bible. Teaching: Explaining the truths of the Bible.
You are very welcome to come and see for yourself. That can mean just coming and observing, or it can mean joining in. We'll never ask you to do something you feel uncomfortable with, and will always do all we can to make you feel at home.
So why not come along... 10.30am in the Great Eastern Room,
